Who we areThe Arawa Canoe Club is dedicated to kayak racing - mostly medium to long distance races on grade 2 to 2+ whitewater, and flat water races, from sprints up to marathon distance. Over 450 members cover the spectrum from very social to very competitive and are well supported with training sessions, race programmes and great facilities in the heart of Christchurch. Our building is on the edge of the Avon River, has storage for 165 kayaks, and has changing facilities (separate mens and women's!), gym, kayak ergs, kitchen and a big meeting room. We have a range of club kayaks available to members to get them going, and to get them going higher up the competitive ladder. Club Rooms & GymOur club is for use by all members, please help to keep it tidy. There is a rubbish bin by the door for drink bottles and a couple of brooms floating around to sweep up dust and weed. If you notice any maintenance issues that need attention please contact Devern, our premises and equipment committee member, if we don't know it's broke we can't fix it! WeedcatchersWith the end of summer Weedcatchers will revert back to its usual interval sessions each week. This is a great opportunity to improve your kayaking with others - you are guaranteed to push yourself in this session. It is tailored to suit different abilities so be at the first bridge at 5.45pm ready to go. |
